Marine Science Camp
About This Camp
Rising 7th-Rising 9th Graders | Join us for a hands-on, fun-filled adventure into the world of marine science along North Carolina’s stunning Crystal Coast! This exciting camp will explore the wonders of marine life, ecosystems, and environmental conservation through immersive activities and expert-led experiences.
Throughout the week, campers will dive deep into understanding the structures of marine organisms—from the tiniest plankton to the mighty whale—learning how these creatures have adapted to thrive in their environments. We'll explore the flow of energy through ecosystems, studying how organisms interact with one another and how their habitats support life.
Our campers will gain an appreciation for the importance of protecting our natural resources. They will experience the vital role of local agencies and organizations in preserving marine habitats and will learn how human activities impact the delicate balance of our aquatic systems.
With interactive investigations, dissections, hands-on data collection, and expert-led field trips, this camp will ignite your child’s passion for science while fostering a deep connection to environmental stewardship. From analyzing animal adaptations to exploring the future of sustainable fisheries, your camper will leave this experience with a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and how we can protect them for generations to come!
Please bring a non-perishable lunch. If your camper needs lunch assistance, please contact camps@carteret.edu. Snacks/water are provided.
