Summary
This course introduces the vocabulary, abbreviations, and symbols used in the language of medicine. Emphasis is placed on building medical terms using prefixes, suffixes, and word roots. Upon completion, students should be able to pronounce, spell, and define accepted medical terms.
NOTES TO STUDENTS: Spring Break: April 6-10, 2026. Students seeking a more in-depth knowledge of pathological conditions and treatment, or intend to pursue a medical assisting certificate/diploma are advised to take Medical Terminology I and Medical Terminology II.
